1991 Mercedes-Benz 300D 2.5 Turbo

I had a few question regarding several problems I am currently having with my 1991 300D 2.5 Turbo.
First- All the speakers in the car, with the exception of the speakers in the driver and passenger's doorand a left-rear speaker, do not work. I suspect it may be a short, but I am not sure, I have fiddled with the balance, but to no avail.
Second- while driving down the road at night, once in a while the lights flash slightly, could this be a short, or some other problem?
Third- one certain days, there is a constant clicking noise that comes from the door, electrical?
fourth- there is a high-pitched rattling noise that sounds as if it is coming from the rear of the car, particularly around the exhaust area...any ideas what this could be, and how to fix it?
Lastly- How often should the timing chain be changed on a diesel?

Mercedes benz 1991 300ce(RIP), now an 89 300ce
the speaker problem might be due to the fader being broken. they are prone to going bad. my suggestion would be to just bypass it completely. if u have an aftermarket head unit, most likely the fader is built in to it anyway

I had a high pitched buzzing sound comming from the rear of my interior and couldnt find it for the longest time. Turned out to be loose wood trim in my door panels. they bolt on from the other side and when they get loose they "buzz" drove me crazy! HTH.
