Dome light won't come on when door opens

.....pretty much what the title says. The door lights come on when I open the door and the seatbelt light flashes when I open the door but no dome light. The rear dome light comes on when the rear doors are open. I checked the fuses and bulb and its all good. The dome light turns on and switches to its different light modes, it just won't come on when the door opens. I played with the door switch a little but came up empty handed. Anyone with some experience with this?

I did.

I unplugged the buzzer since its the most annoying noise out there and voila no more light on the driver side. But all the other doors still work so it may not be your problem.

When I have a sec, im gonna take the buzzer box apart, desolder the buzzer and put it all back together and plug it in for the timer light.

Thanks. My only issue is with the two front doors. The "timer light" as you described won't come one when either the two front doors open.

I swapped the switches on both the passenger and driver side doors with the switch that controls the door light and seat belt light and got the same results. So its not the 2 pairs of switches on the door that are malfunctioning. Anyone have an idea what I should look at next?

i think the switch for the dome light has to be set so when you open the door it comes on. just slide it in every position then open the door and see if it works?

The buzzer switch relay has something to do with the interior lights. You need to order a new one. It goes in behind the instrument cluster. I had the same problem with my drivers side door "illuminator" not coming on when I opened the drivers door. I replaced that relay and it worked fine afterwards.

Thanks Mhorn, is the relay pretty obvious or are there a numerous relays behind the guage cluster? I''m thinking of just getting one at the dismantler.

is the relay behind the guage pretty obvious or a trick to locate?
