EGR unit

Hi all. My engine light comes up. My mechanic told me my EGR valve needs to be cleaned. He said no need to replace just clean it and reuse. Have you heard of anything like this? What is EGR valve? I didnt notice any driving problems? Something I can ignor for awhile or I need to get it fix very quickly? Help

If it's the same as mine that i had to fix, cause i really cant remember the name, all i know is there was 2 of them and they are connected to air hoeses. If it's that same part then yes you canignor of a bit but need to get it change. Not sure if you can clean this part out, mine i had to go get new ones and replace both. Pretty pricey at dealer, found almost new ones at a yard for $150 each.

I don't know what model you drive, but if it's like mine, the problem is typically a blocked egr tube that needs to be snaked out. Blockage is usually within the first few inches of the tube where it connects to the throttle.
