94 e320 fault code 4 : 4 Air injection inoperative
4 Air injection inoperative-
what exactly is this? is this something major that should be fixed right away?
i drove the car to chicago with my mother and i flew back... shes planning on driving the car back to kansas city (8hr drive) later this week... i faxed a independent non-mb shop how to retrieve the fault codes and it came up #4(Air injection inoperative) They stated that the car should be fine to drive home....
im just curious what this actually is...
any info would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks

It would help if you could build yourself a code reader and get the sub-codes that led up to you regular codes. It costs $5 to make. Use an empty film canister to hold everything together. This'll make for a better diagnosis.
Code reader
At a glance I'd say you need a new Air Mass Meter (synonymous to mass air flow sensor). I just went through this on my car, so I may be able to help with diagnosing and locating a good part, instead of a cheap knock-off. But lets not jump to any conclusions just yet. It could be just a vacuum leak.
