E-320 Muffler removal

Hey all I am looking for ideas for Exhaust. Has anybody ever just pulled the muffler and used a pipe and just the resonator. Did it sound like crap? Was it too loud?

I was looking into a magnaflow with a dual tip if the above is a bad idea. I know everybody says there is no horsepower to gain but I am a car nut and need some sound out of this bad ride.

Thanks

Indeed I would always get a brand (Magnaflow/Sebring/Remus etc.) custom fabbed muffler for your specific car so it all works. I have had very bad experience with welding any unversal sports muffler under the car as you constantly get that heavy deep undampened sound. On long trips this will drive you and especially your GF or wife nuts believe me! A brand muffler will be decent and ONLY give that deep sound when you step on it...

Well yeah there is no doubt I would use a borla or Magnaflow. Has anybody heard a M104 run just on the resonator though. What was it like? I already made a cat converter delete and it made no sound difference at all.

I've been considering muffler options and am wondering what this guy asked last year.

Anyone removed just the resonator and left the OEM muffler? Is this bad/good idea?

A few people have done this and it seems you get little to no change in sound at all.

Sounds like you added a new muffler (the flowmaster) in addition to removing the resonator. I was thinking just removing the resonator without adding a new muffler. I'll take your word Garfunkle.
