Wheels and tires questions;300E
Will the stock 16" wheels from either a 1994 SL500 or a 1990 SE300 fit my 1991 300E with no modifications? I am not sure what set to buy in my effort to move up from 15". If any of these rims fit what is the recommended tire size? My research suggests 205/55/16 (RX by Tirerack).
With thanks,
Richard

Thank you for responding. The seller's of these wheels may not have them in a few days so I'm hoping to make a decision ASAP. My owner's manual indicates the original 15" wheels have an offset of 48mm. If the offset on these wheels are indeed 45, will they not fit? And if they do, which one's are preferable. Thanks again, Richard.
BTW, I am currently using 15" wheels from an E320 - the 8 half-moons. If neither of the available wheels fit my car I will probably purchase summer tires and live with winter change overs for the next three years. Prefer not to though.

I have an E300 1990 model. I searched for months for wheel specs and found the ones for my car at Eurotechwheels.com, Type B Tripple chrome 18x8.
The wheel is a 6-split design a Brabus replica. The offset is 30mm. Thy size is 18x8 225/40. I put some Yokahama AVID H4s. Although I would have preferred Falcon Azenis ST115 which has a new technology to reduce road noise.
At first we tried a 245, but that caused rubbing. The 225 with 30mm offset lines up real nice with the fenders. I have to change the old shocks on my car but I would not lower the ride.

I have 1997 SL500 rims (16x8 ET37) and I'm fine with 225/55/16 , so if I was 17x8, I'd go 225/40/17
