a boring thread...

Hello guys,
I have a stupid question. I was just wondering how much fuel each section of the fuel gauge indicates... e.g. Last bar = 10 litres, big section = 20 litres and so on..
Also, what kind of mileage are you guys getting from each section? I have a feeling the tank must be of a weird shape

Anyway, just to make this thread not so boring.. I'll attach some pics I took of my car on Saturday along with my friend's W124..

Cheers

Thanks Gorb.

We've spent the whole day polishing and waxing it, though I seriously think my car (the grey one) requires a new paintjob

Fuel gauges don't really work that way. I've found that on my w124 the increments are fairly close to equal, but usually the 3/4 tank mark is usually more like 1/2 - i think it's so it gives the impression of better fuel economy. It may also be because the gauge is measuring how far from the top the little floaty thing is in the tank, and tanks are rarely symmetrical from top to bottom. Imagine an inverted pyramid shaped gas tank - at half its height, you've already passed the vast majority of its volume.

You know Jeffrey, one of these days I'm going to actually thoroughly read your posts so I can stop posting such dumb-*** replies. After reading your post again, I can see that you already knew everything I just said.

Sorry.

Great pics by the way.

LOL mate.. Not a problem. It's really useful for you to post such info anyway.. Proves that at least I'm not alone in thinking that the tank is of some weird, maybe pyramidic shape..
