Tires??

Anyone know where I can get a good set of tires that will not put a huge dent in my pocket...? My 21st is coming up next thursday and I may get some for my birthday if i am lucky...so i need good tires for not that much $$. My rim size is 17x7 and I am in the OC area in Southern California...if that matters. What kind of tires are good tires for gripping?
Thanks for all/any suggestions...

As always for the money I would get Falken Azenis series.

They grip pretty well and they're very quiet.

Chris, where have you bought your tires? I know you have many hookups but where can I get some of those tires for a decent price?

I recently hooked up my friend with Falken Ziex at TWS for around 330 mounted and balance. If you want the Azenis they will be about a hundred more for all four.

Consider Kumho tires... good tires for little cost. Check tirerack.com.

Yeah Falken kicks (_!_)

Hey, what size for the 17" AMG Hammers? Is it 225/35/ZR17? I dunno if the "35" is correct? Help!

definitely dont get generic tires.

try to get a good reputable name brand. it does make a difference, especially when the tires are getting older and have less tread.

35 series sidewall is too small for the W124 especially in 17" wheel.

225/45-17's would be ideal. You can fit 235's all around if you do all the proper fender modifications.

Hi ChrisDPham,

You are always good help! Thank you so much!
One more thing if you do not mind... My car is already lowered to the max and used to have "45"s but I want something that looks low profile. I dunno much about sizes.

I have used Dunlop tires before... TOO NOISY!
Continental... EXCELLENT HANDLING, Bit pricey though.
Falken... NO SOUND and Good Price.
Michelin... THE BEST! But I cannot afford them, my mom has them on the white W124 she has.

Falconeer you would go great with some Falken tires lol...yeah i know, the corny joke of the day....Remember you have to go with almost the same height as the O.E tires because your speedo is going to read the wrong MPH with a taller or smaller tire.

Michelin tires are over rated!! I have some pilot sports 2 in "stock" and pilot sports on my mustang their not that much different than falken or even some kumhos....

I like goodyear f1 tires also but way out of my price range...

My Speedometer is already calibrated for 17" this is tested on the various Radars installed in this country that take your picture when you are even 1 kmph over the damn limit!

Last year though, I switched back to stock Mercedes rims and tires and I was lagging by 7% in the speedometer. I am going back to 17" today.

The lowest I would run on 17's is 40 series sidewall.

I got my VRated tires at Americas Tire Company in Mission Viejo and they were about half of what Vrated tires are anrywhere else, including Cosco Tires. I guess they're owned by General and they make a decent Vrated tire, the ones I actually have on my 300E, and theyre awesome! I get far better traction then the michelins and goodyears I used to use. I remember it was about $360 for all 4 tires. They definitely seem to get as good traction as the Pirellis on my Jag and the stock Michelins on my E350. Even though if I had to choose one of the 3... definitely the Perellis, but they're pricey!

HEY PEOPLE...
I really need help in deciding this one...

A guy is offering me Falkens for $75 a piece. And he has this "Roadstone" (Korean made) for about $65 a piece. He says the Falkes are quiet in the begenning, but after 3-6 months get very noisy.

Is this true? What should I go with?

$360 for 15-16" tires? way too expensive. That's how much i get a new set of 18" ZR rated tires
