get your 5 links in the rear suspension checked out, the trust arm is most likely worn out but any of them 5 can be bad and it would do it.

Hey, I heard if you put 300TE end links in a 300E sedan it'll tighten up the rear greatly.. can anyone confirm?

I think the 5 rear links are the same for wagon or sedan. The shocks may be different. Your subframe bushings may also be worn so check into those. Replacing all 5 on each side, shocks and springs(especially performance ones) will give you the best ride. I know my rear trust arms are worn out and everytime it shifts hard the rear wiggles. Will soon be fixed when the good suspension goes in and I get my car back.

I will have a look at the bushes to see if they are worn...are they difficult to replace?...what about wheel bearings?? could they be a cause of the problem?

Yeah, you don't "change shocks" on a TE.

They're hyrdraulic self leveling struts instead and are at least $450 each.

OFFICIALLY the procedure is to only replace individually and only when severely leaking.

Of course Midas and other repair outfits of that ilk will insist on replacing in pairs, but that's what you get taking a Merc to a "cheap" repair shop.

Problem described requires new struts--bushings are part of the strut and aren't replaced separately. Not too expensive.
