Need Orientation Buying a 1981 240D
Year 1981 and the guy is asking $1,000 CDN, but willing to consider counteroffers. The car has been driven 240k kms and supposedly the car runs fine.
I do not know about the interior, nor the exterior, there are no pictures, so I need to go and see it. But imagine that is in fair shape, what would be a fair offer?
I want to buy the car to drive it everyday to work. Will it be much trouble to drive it daily with -30 degrees celsius during winters in Alberta?
Another question, is this 240D the W123? I did not see in this forum a section for that model. That is why I am posting this question here.
Here is a time frame showing which models were manufactured which years:

Thanks for reading, and double thanks for answering!

Yes, an '81 is a w123.
$1,000 CDN sounds like a good price if it runs, but I don't know about how well they run in the Canadian winter. I would imagine they have block heaters that can keep the engine warm overnight, I know other diesels have them.
