Starting issues

I have a 1989 300E. I live in Atlanta and work in New York right now so I don’t drive the car during the week. In the past month when I come home on Friday and get in the car it has been very hard to start can take 5 mins. Once started when I come to a stop and just have my foot on the brake the car will die. If the car is in Neutral or Park no problem. So when I come to a stop I keep my foot on the gas and brake, or keep the car in N. When the light changes I floor it, the car will putter for 10 seconds or cut off and then it just takes off spinning the tires. It will do this until I park the car for an hour or so and it is fine the rest of the weekend. It will start on first try and drive fine. It does idle very rough now though. Could this be my fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines, or any other suggestions? Thanks for your help in advance.

hi,

I recently recovered from this one!

Change your fuel filter. This might also be happening due to bad injectors. Donot change them yet, try putting a couple of bottles of injector cleaner fluid in the tank and see what happens. Take the car on a long drive. If this does not make a difference, it might need new injectors.

i had a similar issue come up after having the car sitting for 2 weeks without being driven, i got some of the Lucas Injector cleaner, put in a almost full tank of gas then put that in, now it runs nicely, although it does shutter from time to time when idleing, but i think that is a different issue. Hope that helps. I got the injector cleaner from my mechanic for $5 CDN stores here sell it fro around $6 CDN. Best $5 i've spent
