How I Modified The Front Spring Pads for Vogtland Springs

MB does indeed use a points system but it's not true that other suppliers use a 'one size fits all' policy.
H&R, for example, list over a dozen springs for the W124 (choice of 2 for the E320!).
I can't help thinking that if you need to double up on spring pads then the spring is the wrong one.

For my 1988 300CE / M103-12V, recommended H&R part numbers are 29569-1 / 29569-2.
My turbo installer who does quite a few suspensions prefers the H&R's over other makes as he feels they are a better fit to the car.
Also suggested the H&R's with Bilstein HD's for street use.

E320 Coupe
Those are absolutely the wrong springs for that car.
Both Eibach and H&R are German TUV approved and conform to very strict German standards, and therefore have a range of springs for the W124 depending on the engine size etc etc.
I would have thought Vogtland would also have a range of different springs.
I have not looked but surely they have a web site featuring the product tables.

So Eric, how has this mod worked long term? I need to do this but stacking spring pads just sounds bad. Any slippage or any other problems?

Very Slow Mercedes
Just a side not but of all the W124 springs available I think Eibach's suck the most, I have the correct Eibach's for a W124 4 cyl cabriolet and even with a biggest spring pad the rear sagged,I saw ChrisDPham car with Vogtland's and it looked sweet, ....I thought also to double the spring pads but prefer to do other things to live on the wild side.....

No idea on the difference except for the drop, would love to find out also. Specs like compression rate, spring bound and rebound rate would really be a big help in choosing the best springs to get.
