Window Washer Fluid...

Can I put that cheap $1.99 fluid into our cars or do our cars require some high tech synthetic fluid that somehow doesnt ruin the sprayers in which the fluid comes out of????
Thanks

I use distilled water in mine. The blue stuff has ingredients to keep it from freezing. Up north that matters, but in the south you don't need to worry.

Yeah, you should be fine w/ the 98 cent walmart blue water. You live in anaheim so I don't think you need to worry about your fluid freezing up. A lot of old school folks add a little bit of coolant to the blue water if they need to prevent it from freezing up. Just an inexpensive way to stop freezing instead of buying the cold weather formula.

i use the Rain-X fluid that you get from Canadian Tire (like wal-mart sorta) it's expensive but is an easier way to rain-x the windshield rather then use the spray that you have to keep applying by hand, this stuff does the dirty work for ya, and some of it makes it's way to the side windows as well and that helps In the winter I use the -40c rain-x stuff, works great cause when the ice and snow build up overnight since the glass has the rain-x on it i just brush off the ice... instead of scraping... Well worth the $5 i think.

Won't the coolant jack up your paint?

I wish they never made the fluid tank heater, mine leaks where the metal coil exits the pipe and is probably inducing air into the cooling system

mine was leaing too and causing the temps to go up

i bypassed it by simply removing the hose from the bottom and connecting it to the top one without one going to the washer reservior.

if i move to a cold area i will have to get that heating element thingamajig replaced and the hoses reconnected.
but i live in los angeles.
