around me, if you want a good respray in the same colour where they take their time and do the seams and so on, your looking at $4000cdn, you can get it done for cheaper but you get what you pay for.

Exactly. I haven't painted my car for that exact reason. With body work, it's very simple. You get what you pay for. If you want the quality of your paint job to be the same level as the one that your car got at the factory, you're looking at around $4k US at least. I wouldn't be surprised if it got up to $5k or more.

IMHO, it's hard to justify paying that kind of money for a paint job when it will cost about as much as (or more than) what your car is worth. If you pay less than that, you might end up making your car look worse that it did before the paint job.

lots of cars
it's all where you live...i can get a b/c c/c for 2k color sanded, and buffed....

The secret to make a nice paint job is 2k primer and alot of block sanding...

Also i would suggest you find the base coat on ebay if your painter uses that time of paint....i just saw an auction of dupont jet black chroma base for $70 a gallon and that's $400 at a body shop supply store...

The base paint paint quality dosen't matter as much as the clear coat you put on it....i would get the best clear coat available with a good u/v rating and get a cheap b/c from a cheaper line of the same paint brand....like ppg has omni...etc...
