Flywheel Vibration Damper

I am in the process of replacing my transmission and changing all the gaskets/seals in, on and around the engine (pulled it all out). I'm also scrapping off the layers of oil and cleaning the engine up to paint it. So far so good but I've got a question regarding the removal of the vibration damper. The manual I have for my 86 300E says to remove the 6 bolts and just slid off the belt pulley and vibration damper which is located with a fit pin. Doesnt say anything about the 27 mm bolt going into the hub. So, my question is...Does the bolt have to come out or what? The damper doesnt want to "slid off." Also, any need to be concerned with balancing for installation?

Thanks in advance
Dave
