Should I go BBS LM's or Replica's

Lately I've been thinking about what wheels I should get for the ride. I was considering Work Euroline DH's but ever since Ryan stoled all the thunder it doesn't seem fun anymore. lol

So I've considered BBS LM's as a final choice. My friend showed me earlier of a company located near me who makes replica's. The good thing about this company is that they offer a whole set for the price of one BBS wheel. We're talking about $800 dollars for a set rather than paying $800 for one BBS wheel and that's in a 18 x 8 set up. Also, If I were to go towards the relica route I would be going into 19 x 8.5 all around which is good and bad.

What do you think I should do? Save up more money and get the real deal or save the extra cash, get the replicas and put the rest of the money ... which is like $2,400 into other mods? BBS LM's are forged wheels where as the Luff M1's are casted.

Here's the pictures for comparison purposes.

BBS LM's...

or

Luff M1's

Also, I need opinions on what colors you guys would look best on my car being that it's obviously black (040). I was thinking either the silver finish or the competition gold since it hasn't been done before and LM's in gold completely look sick on any car. My friend suggest go Black but I think that's a little played out since everyone is going with black finishes these days on their cars when it comes to wheels.

Luff's I can get a lot sooner.
BBS LM's I would have to wait a couple more months in order to shoot out that amount of cash.

Let me know brothas!

go for the Luff M1 in competiton gold!!!
bbs are not worth the money unless you want it for weight saving

only problem is that you might have to go 19x8.5 all around because it will be hard to stuff a 19x10.5 back there

Competition Gold would be sick since you hardly ever see any Benz owner rocking gold wheels.

I'm still waiting on them to get back to me on the current offsets they offer. I talked to a buddy of mine last night and he said 19 x 8.5 is way pushing it.

You're right about the weight issue - BBS LM's in 18's I believe weight in about 22 pounds each. I bet those luffs are like 30 pounds. hahaha

Yo Chris, is that money shot from a legit BBS or replica?

Either way, can you get me information on this replica dealer? I think I'm interesting in setting up an account with him if he'll deal right

Someone photoshop please - I've seen them once on a W124 on a Japanese website - I was a idiot though for not saving the picture.

Also saw a couple 190E's with BBS LM's and they look good on the boxy car.

go with the gold replica chris. use the rest of the money for other (and sicker?) mods.
besides, replicas don't ruin your day if they were chipped by flying pebbles or anything.

so have made up your mind?

I have to agree with e320newbie. When you have a solid heavy-looking car, it looks odd to have light-weight, thin-spoked rims.

I think you need something more beafy. I haven't looked around at rims in a couple of years, so I don't have any suggestions.

What's wrong with your monos? Are you sick of not being able to track down center caps?

I have to agree as well. The 124 demands a substantial looking wheel. Just because a wheel looks nice by itself doesn't mean it will enhance your car (as you know from wanting a picture). A 190E can pull off the BBS, especially with a EVOII kitted one. Personally I like the monoblocks, they just look right on the car. Try customwheelsmarket.com. I bought 18x8 replicas for $600/4 and was blown away by the finish & quality. Certainly the better way to go for a daily driver as has been pointed out.

The wheels look good, if you've got the money, go with the BBS in gold. But you should also know that since these wheels are extremely spacy it will expose most of your caliper & rotor, so it might look funny w/o a big brake kit. just my .02

Still haven't made up my mind - too many decisions to make and what not.

Pete, Nothing wrong with my Hammer's - Just getting tired of them and want something more aggressive.

I'm pretty good about driving daily with wheels on a car - Just not lately since I don't care about my Hammer's anymore. lol

If I were to get these wheels - They will probably be in gold but I'd also have to paint my lower cladding which im going to anyways to color match the car. I'm not too worried about the exposed brake issue. The 400E and E420's have a decent sized brake set up in the front. Just painted calipers and aftermarket rotors will do the trick.

go to tirerack and select bbs wheels for the 420E...they will show you how it looks like on a w124

Chris, send a PM to Zorro. He hooked me up with a lot of PS work a little while ago. Make sure he posts the results in this thread!!!

BTW, if you decide you want to go with this style rim, definitely get the replicas. I really don't see the brand name being worth 4 times more. That's just retarded if you ask me. Split the price difference, spend half on mods, and put the rest in a Roth IRA.

Actually, I'm not a fan of these wheels on w124s. I think they look best in 19" or 20" on p-cars or newer MBs. I think you need a chunkier wheel, but then again, what do I know?
Gold would be the shizzle, IMHO.

Yo Chris dude,

Those rims look pretty sick. I have a couple of pictures saved myself. Don't think its the exact same thing, but its pretty close.

I personally haven't seen them on a 300E but I have seen them on 190E's and they look pretty darn insane. A lot of Audi's have them on and stuff and Audi's have that heavy car look so it doesn't look all that weak.

Why wouldn't you choose the EVO II rims/500E/Ceginus/Izars (soo many names..lol) I love the look those rims give a car. But yeah, go replica dude, like some other members said. You drive it daily so no point getting the real deal and getting hurt when it gets curb rash or something like that.
