Oil Consumption

My 260E requires a quart of oil about every 500 miles or about a week and a half. What is causing this? I don't see a leak and am lost...

look in your coolant reservoir. If it looks like grey tapioca is lining the sides, your oil is leaking into your coolant and you need your headgasket replaced.

Does your exhaust have any smoke in it?

It has to do with certain type of seal. I believe it has to do with the transmission. I had that problem over the summer. I will look up the name for you though. It was one of those things where the part cost like 10 bucks but they had to lift out the entire engine to fix it so it was expensive.

Is there blue smoke out the tail pipes, are your spark plugs oily? and on the bottom of the car, is there a lot of oil in the engine pan? The oil cooler lines leak when they get old, the seal on the oil pan can leak, etc. check for that if you aren't burning it.
