Dust Cover

The dust cover under the engine makes it a real pain to change the oil. Is there any reason I shouldn't just remove the cover and leave it off indefinitely?

That's there for aerodynamics as well as protection for the engine from debris and water. Those clever krauts didn't put it there for no reason, hence you never see them on US cars. I have had them on all of the w124's in my life and it is only 4 screws to remove. When I change my oil, I take my time, I am not in a race. Leave it be. There are a lot of expensive parts to protect in that engine compartment.

And, as I learned when changing my grille, its AMAZING at catching wrenches and hiding them
