Back to W124... but it's been a while.
Hi all. I was an owner of a 93 400E back in the late 90's and enjoyed the car truly, even with all the little "quirks" the car had. I have since sold the car and have recently gotten the "W124 bug" again. It's been a while since I have touched a MBZ and need some help. This time, I would like to go the TE (wagon) route. I have seen lots of nice wagons on this site in particular ones with the AMG kit. I am wondering if the kit is still available as new or is it just in the "used market"? Any replicas out there?
Thanks in advance for your help. I hope to be back here real soon with pics of the wagon and here often to pick your W124 brains.

If I had some money to invest in a s124 "te" I would import an amg version from Japan. Check out www.garagecurrent.jp (sp?) They seem to have a number of amazing TE's and rare sedans.

Thank you Shadowgriffen. I am currently looking for a TE as my daily driver but of course I won't be able to leave that stock. I see you have one yourself and it looks real clean. I hope you don't mind but will be contacting you for some help soon.

Not true, you can import them via canada, or through an import company there. Lots of JDM LHD cars in western CA, compared to the US, but you can fairly easily import cars from CA to the US.

Boy oh boy, that place always has premo benzo's. I need to run get a powerball ticket and cross my fingers and toes. I'd take about 6 cars off their floor in one purchase.

ChrisDPham - I guess more of EXE since VIP guys tend to run a whole lot more aggressive offsets. But there's something about cutting/nip/tucking the fenders off an $80k car that makes me not want to do it.
shadowgriffen - Thanks for the complement and I will surely try to have the TE be a "looker" as well.
myfirstbenz - truly some nice wagons... and only if I had the funds to get one over here I would do it in a heart beat.
So what I'm currently considering is a '95 E320TE. I found one with a "Sportline" badging (front side fenders). Never knew they came out with a Sportline edition of the TE, unless the owner just slapped on the badge.
So how about it guys, can the AMG kit still be had? Thanks in advance.

W124's
The AMG kit can still be obtainable but the real question is finding someone who is willing to import one for you. I was looking at the prices on the whole kit alone and let's just say I'd rather respray my whole car and install my WALD.

You seem well versed in the bippu world. Do you have one yourself?

W124's
Let's just say I have one coming reaaaally soon.
Anyways, not another future WALD owner! lol jk I haven't seen two verisons for the TE since the bumper is different in the rear. I've only seen one available for the TE and that would be the EX line. Although, you could get the V4 line and just add on the front and sideskirts to the car and obtain the EX line for the rear bumper.

I second shadow's comment to stay away from the 4matic, btw... not just because of how expensive the repairs can be, but also because my understanding is that it's basically impossible to lower the car...
I think the Wald EX kit would look really good on an e320 wagon. The updated w124's look better with the newer-looking wald kits than the pre-facelift models do.
I've heard that the V4 kit hangs extremely low and makes it difficult to drive.

sorry johnjohn
this might be off topic but i really need to ask this
to bigpete and shadowgriffen. or the big chris may be?
what's a 4-matic? 4 speed automatic tranny?
and how many speed does the 'common' automatic tranny have?
mine's a 4 speed automatic tranny
hope it's not a troublesome one
thanx

most TE's are 4spd auto, there were some 5spd auto's in the w124. The 4matic system is a 4wheel drive system that is engaged only up to 25 mph. The transfer cases are notorious for failing.

Thanks for the tips guys regarding the 4matic. I've read a few threads on how bad that model is. I will surely make a note of it. So it's looking like Wald it is unless I find an alternative. I'm checking out the car today and if everything goes well I will be posting pics up soon.
So can anyone comment on my question:
"So what I'm currently considering is a '95 E320TE. I found one with a "Sportline" badging (front side fenders). Never knew they came out with a Sportline edition of the TE, unless the owner just slapped on the badge."
Did a Sportline TE exist?
