Ever since my belt tensioner was changed - my engine has been making a whining noise - almost like a "belt is rubbing on something" noise. Everything looks clear. Can you get these things too tight? It only does it when in park, when put in drive - it quiets down. BTW - motor mounts have been changes.

I realized that later....I actually slowed down from 140 to get my cell phone out of my pocket....I had my 1992 400E I owned in the early 90's up to 155 out in West Texas (roads straight as hell...it wanted more....I woosed out...backed off) Amazing cars.

I have sinced slowed way down.

no, more like a rubbing noise, does not really sound bad, just not the way it sounded before the belt tensioner. Certainly not "quiet."

I need to take it back to my guy and let him take a listen - i was there the other day for something else but was in my other car.

Mine makes vibrating noise at idle, more so in reverse than drive. What will happen if I do nothing? Is there a DIY page for this somewhere? I didn't find it using the search.

With motor mounts, it just rattles more the worse it gets.

Here's the instructions:

NOTE: Rather than removing the entire intake plenum to get at bolt #7, I just took both sides off by removing bolts #6 and pulling the whole thing out.

My Engine sounded different too after the belt was changed, will just live with it.
Also at idle i get a little shake, but my spark plugs havent been changed for 15000 KM's (orignals with car too)
