Choosing the right Harness

Alright guys, I searched and read through all the 'W124 Harness' threads. I was unable to find anything more than a mention of there being two different harnesses for the '95 E320 6 cyl. Does anyone have concrete certainty which harness goes with this car? I have the VIN if needs be. I just talked to a guy that has both to sell but he couldn't tell me off the top of his head which to get and no search i have done has gotten me closer to the answer.

Thanks!!

One is the main harness or "upper" harness. The other harness is the "lower harness" and only has the wiring for the starter, oil pressure sender, and oil level sender.

The upper harness will cost 3-4 times what the lower harness costs.

$ $ $ $ $

How much was he going to sell you the harness for?

(and yes... when we talk about the wiring harness we mean that bad boy that is around $1000.00 and is the source of much consternation)

Take your VIN to the dealer and he will give you the latest part number for your spec car.

The correct harness is required depending on the options fitted to your car eg. ASR or not, ASD or not, auto box or manual, 4 or 5 speed etc etc etc

THanks a ton for getting back to me so soon guys,

I have a German Auto works shop right around the corner, I'll talk to them to see if they can point me in the right direction. I looked on Mercedesshop and the site says $852.XX. then I got an email from Roy and he mentioned something in the 900's. he told me about getting the right harness becasue they do not take returns and being that it costs the same as 3 small kids or 4 midgets.... that I may want to be certain before ordering!!!

Thanks again, if there is any more info that any one has as far as specifics it would be greatly appreciated

As I have tried to indicate, only the main Mercedes dealer can give you the correct latest part number for your car. (Part numbers do change)

You need to give the dealer your VIN.

Then if your contacts have the same part number on their harness then good.

IF their part number is different , you need to buy a new harness from the dealer. Ask for a discount.
