As far as tips or tricks....it would be tough to avoid one short of just following the law. What'd you do to instigate this question? Got a bunch of unpaid tickets?
Maybe make a fake parking permit or something, but you could get into big trouble and more fines for stuff like that. Those boots fit all kinds of applications, so I doubt that there is a simple modification you could do to prevent one from being fitted. (maybe get wheels that don't have any openings through them?)

.Anyways, I've seen old videos of our cars back in the day, all stock, promotional videos and I noticed the rims are like, well solid. Would those type of rims prevent a boot?
