some of you might remember me from a post i posted about a week ago.
well.. i finally found the problem why it wouldnt stay running.
today i was was doing the usual since i jsut got the car and liscense which would be cleaning it. so i started it up and pulled it to the front of the drive way to clean some stuff up when i noticed the muffler was hangling even lower.
so i backed it up just it case it would stall. then i called my dad and was like uh we got a problem. i told him the muffler was hanging down even more so he came home to check it out.
while i was waiting for him i took a look at the muffler and noticed that it read in a grease pen'' 87 mb 124 300d'' which mine is a 300e. he came home and was like no **** so we ripped it off and it was clogged little chunks of carbon build up were comin out in the size of golf *****.
it runs fine now and it went on a 3 mile run just to get the bad gas out since its been sitting for a year. let it sit in the drive way and it was running for about an hour and it hauls ***. so i guess a 300d muffler is different then a 300e.
but more is still to come.
gonna get a new muffler shortly. anyone have any ideas on ones that are inexpensive and sound really good(kinda have a sporty sound to them)

Did those little chunks of carbon have tiny holes in them? It could have been what's left of your catalytic convertor. I can't think where else any chunks that large could have come from. I think it should run fine without the cat if that's the case, but I'm not sure.

Put a decent muffler on it. It's not a mustang. It speaks for itself without making much racket.
