Subwoofers...
I just bought 2 12" Kicker L7's. I'll be powering them with a 1600 watt class D amp.
But the question is...
Will they sound muffled, or not as loud becuase of where the gas tank is?
Have any of you had any experience with any kind of subs in this car?

check out my install thread. it should be on the first page in the w124 section, titled Pete's System Installation or something like that.
I did an infinite baffle setup which will not be possible with subs that big. But it at least shows you what I've done.
The easiest way to get the sound into the cabin is to simply remove your rear speakers and leave them out. This poses a problem in these cars though, since the front speakers are only ~4", which leaves you will pretty much no mid range/midbass. But you can see what I did in my install to fix that!

The gas tank definitely effects the bass trasfer from the trunk to the cabin. I used Dynamat to keep the bass in, prevent rattle, and funnel the bass to the cabin. In my car, almost all the bass stays in the cabin unless the windows are open. Some people like for others to hear their bass, but i prefer to keep it to myself and now look like a gangster drivin down the road. I always laugh when i hear some guy drivin down the road with his windows open (even when its raining and cold) around my campus just so he can show off his subs. Then as he passes you hear his trunk and license plate rattling like none other
By the way, i have a 15" MTX sealed sub with a MTX TA3401 amp.
I used to have a 190e and had 2 12" Alpine type S with smaller MTX amp, and had same issue as i do now. In that car i removed the first aid kit and made a screen cover for the hole(looked like a square speaker cover) to allow a little bit more bass in, and help to port the trunk space. I've always found that when there is air flow by having a window or two open, that the bass is louder. I think this has to do with the amount of air making its way to the trunk, essentially porting my cabin.

dynamat xtreme is way overpriced. Get damplifier pro which is exactly the same stuff, just not over-marketed and over-priced.
