E420 compression ratio, forged internals?
Ive been doing a lot of reading on both the S class and more recently the W124 E class models with the V8's. It seems the motors can last forever (though the wiring harnesses sometimes fall apart).
Anyway, does anyone know what the compression ratio of the W124 400e and E420 are (I know at some point it was slightly changed too).
Secondly, is the crankshaft, rods or pistons forged?

From what I remember reading in the Bentley published "W124 E-class owners bible", it went from 10:1 to 11:1 in 1993 when they increased displacement to 4.2L, while HP went from 268-275. The designation to 420 did not change until 1994 when the "E was moved to the front of the name.

thanks guys, you wouldn't happen to know if it has a forged crankshaft, rods or pistons?
I take it by the relatively high c/r that people don't supercharge or turbo these motors very often..

I know that some mods can be done to the intake manifold that drastically improve power, and allow you to run 87 octane... i'll try to find the post later.

The rods are forged. The pistons are cast, but iron coated on the running surfaces. The block is parent bore and uses no iron liners.
The crank is probably cast, but induction hardened. I am tearing a M119 apart in the coming months and will tell you what I find.

How about a pair of GT3071's each with their own A:W intercooler and meth injection? With proper fueling, should be good for 600rwhp with quick spool and a flat torque curve.
