Driver's side window "dropped" into the door

Has anyone had this happen? Any idea what's broken and how to fix this?

Problem: Window Regulator has failed or somehow managed to come off track.

Solve: Replace window regulator or fix the window itself.

odds are that the clip that holds the window in the track came off, it is most likely in the door still, so just pull off the door panel and take a look. Look up how to do this before you get started so as not to damage anything. If regulators fail, they stop working, they don't do this, it is most likely something simple. Fear not.

Thanks for the helps guys. Anyone know where I can get a "manual" for for taking apart the door panel? (ie: A Chilton or Haynes manual?)

I had a 2001 E320 that had both rear window regulators fail. One was under warranty the other cost a few hundred dollars to remove and replace. Hopefully all you need is a clip or something. Good Luck.

This doesn't look like fun. I tried to do this but everything I touched broke off, so good luck.

Hi, The window is held on the track by a silicone adhesive.
It probably dried out...
