Emergency Problem! Please Help!

This just started today. I had my car parked (its windy today, don't know whether that has anything to do with it) for about 2 hours. I got back in and as I take off from an intersection I hear this ticking noise coming from the left side. Inside it sounds like I have a flat tire, outside it sounds like a snapping or ticking noise. It seems to fade off when I reach 50mph. I tried to recreate it. It comes best when I make right turns from a stop !?! and when the weight is being thrown to the left of the car.
I don't know if this is serious or what! I checked the wheel basically and found no sticks or anything in or around the wheel. Everything seems fine. When the car is motionless and I push down on it, it doesn't make the noise. Only when I am in motion and the wheel seems to turn. Any suggestions, is this serious?

Well, all fuses are OK. All guages are OK. I'm guessing it has to do more with the wheel, but I'm not sure. This was weird, because if it is something mechanical, it started immediately. There was nothing leading up to it...

Why the axle?? You have independent rear suspention! What is wrong with it?? Are you sure it's not just the bearing?? If it is the axle just go to a junk yard and buy a used one. I needed one and I went that route it cost me $200 i've had it now for 3 yrs with no problems.
