My OVP is acting up again...

Now that it is hot hear in Atlanta again, my OVP is starting to act up again. At least thats what I think it is. When I start the car, it sputters for about 45 seconds, and when I rev, it struggles to maintain RPM's for a few seconds. My question is, can I change the OVP myself, or has anyone done this/had this problem? Any advice is always good. Thanks in advance.

If it's not Capt. OVP, maybe the Idle Control Valve (ICV) or throttle body needs cleaning.

Does your ride have the air injection pump? Could be that too. Shiiiiit, could be tons of things besides the OVP. Why not take it to a shop and have it diagnosed, or check your engine code reader?

Sounds like the old K-Jet system SNAFU to me. Many of them do this after a warm start. I've read tons about it on this forum, but have never really seen a definitive solution. It's not the OVP, it's fuel pressure related. Maybe bad injectors that leak out into the manifold and have to re-pressurize after startup, or fuel pressure bleeding off and causing vapor-lock at start up, something along those lines. I always just lived with it in my K-Jet cars that did that. Good luck and keep us posted.

doesnt sound like the OVP at all.

Put the resistor back on, run around your car a good four-five times, tilt the hood star a bit to the left, put on your right hand side euro parking light (click light knob two clicks to the left) pump the brake pedal 7 times, hold at seven then release.

Should be good to go.

well, if it is an annual occurance then it is either temp related or fuel related... have they changed the gasoline in your area lately like they do in the midwest? Ie summer and winter blend fuels?

Will do, but I don't think that is the problem. It's not misfiring or anything. I'll give it a try though.
