1991 300e-24v engine block coolant drain

Hi All,
Try as I might, I cannot find the coolant drain plug for the engine block on my '91 300E. Does anyone have a picture with a big red arrow that they could post ?

TIA,

The engine drain plug is a bit tricky to see from above. If you can gain access from underneath the car, it is at the exhaust side under the exhaust manifold. Check out this Japanese site for idea. The image titled "It is addition" and the plug is circled in red. It's sized 19mm.

BTW I didn't know 4-dr 300E-24v was available in North America. Now I know. :-P

The engine itself does not have its own drain. You have to drain all the coolant from the radiator. The best way to drain the engine is to run radiator flush a number of times before pouring in the new coolant.

Thanks Gutmann, now that I know where it is I can even see it without having to crawl under the car.

My car is from Japan so it may be true that the 300E-24v was not imported to N.A. Are used Mercedes in HK as cheap as they are in Japan?

For a '91 here in HK it is around US$2,000 or $2,500 due to high gas price and high annual road tax for its capacity. (almost US$1,000 annually). It worths more in pieces exporting to Africa without the body-shell.

Hey does your Japanese-spec 300E-24 has an oil-cooler inside the left corner of the front bumper? I visited some Japanese sites and non of them has one there.

Meanwhile, enjoy this high-revving engine like no other MB inline-sixes. Anyone knows if this is the only in-line-6 MB that is capable of going all the way to 7000rpm? The only other MB that has an analogue 8000rpm tachometer I can think of is the 190E 2.3/2.5-16. (Well, all300?-24 family-members have it, too.)

I'll have to check for the oil cooler in the bumper.

Those prices are cheap - even cheaper than what I paid. How about a '90/'91 500SL?

Can you point me to a good HK used car site in English?
