Fan Switch

Hey everyone, could someone tell me how the fan speed switch is meant to operate? In my car there seems to be exactly no difference between settings III & IIII or between settings I & II or between setting 0 and the setting marked in red. Also it leaks air (slight hiss from the switch) when set on mark 0 (when I originally bought the car they tried to pass that off as normal) anyway my mechanic said he could order another one but it would cost over $1,000AU ($850US). I just want to know if this is normal. Thanks people!

Sorry, CLJ. I guess most of the members on this forum are in USA. The W124 USA version does not use this type of control. It just has 3 buttons for the fan, High, Low, and Auto. I would suggest that you look on E-Bay Europe for this fan switch. You can probably find it considerably cheaper than your mechanic. Maybe there is a similar forum based in Europe?

Good luck!

Ok I guess something is up with mine. I'll dig around my wiring diagrams and try and find what the fan speed selector is wired to? Cheers Geh

Well I’m pretty sure I'll go for a C36, they already have their own monoblocks so I won't need mine. Still gota get a test drive in one though before I commit but

Yeh I know thats the worst thing about changing, the C-Klasse just isn't as good but the newer E-Klasse looks hideouse and the build quality isn't that great either so I think a W202 should be ok I hope

I love the New Look of the E Class , But Im To Scared About the Things That'll Break haha that and there way to expensive, oh well its nice to dream, cause by the time ill be able to afford them, every possible thing to go wrong with them will have done so, and will exceed the total value of the car.....Cars these days just arnt ment to last to much plastic

Oh well the love hate Relationships of owning a Mercedes-Benz

Sorry yeh the new E-Klasse looks ! But I meant the W210's I really think they are the low point in the Benz history. Still the quality is getting better now, so I've heard!
