before and after....

hey everybody,

just wanted to show off some pictures. i've had my car about 5 weeks and am really enjoying it. he was a stock 1993 300ce sportline champagne exterior with 90k miles when i bought him. i've had the windows tinted with premium tint, got a set of 17" s-class wheels, his shoes are yokohama 215/45-17 avid h4's, got clear corners, had a new cd head unit installed (factory one was broke when i got the car), and painted the calipers bright red today.
i figured you would be the people that would appreciate this the most. enjoy your cars!

-jimmy c.

ps this is before picture, then next thread will be the after picture

calipers....

here's the pain i went through with the calipers... i had to go one wheel at a time:
1) jack and chock car
2) remove wheel
3) scrub caliper with brake cleaner ($4 autozone)
4) tape paint shields on wheelwell, fender and disc(garbage bags)
5) light coat of 900 degree brake paint ($5 autozone)
6) dry 15 minutes
7) 2nd heavier coat
8) dry 15 minutes
9) 3rd heaviest coat
10) put wheel back on
11) next wheel

it took me about 4 hours because of all the drying time. but i think it was worth it. here's before picture...

Nice work Jim!

Sorry Chupper, I bought the wheels/tires from Jim. Anyways, I had a chance to see his car and new wheels. It is a NICE sportline coupe.
Jim, how is the fit of the clear corners?

thanks....

thanks guys,

the clear corners are from f1 sports in california. i found them on ebay for $30. they took about 10 minutes to install. the fit is good. the shape is identical to the factory bosch yellow corners, but the quality of the plastics is not as good. however, i like them.
enjoy your cars everybody!!!

I was going to get clear sidemarkers for my 300E, but I didn't think that they would match the brown, though.... So I didn't get them.

I think I'm gonna make the G get some clear signals though, its gray. I'll proably get clear signals on front and back for the G.

I was going to go through a HUGE project on my 300E with 300k miles, but I am going to save my money. I was thinkin of 16'' wheels with the rims that Jimmy C had on his "before" and make the car black with a rear spoiler and black lights in back. The clear sidemarkers would look nice then, but that never happened, so my ol' brown 300E will just have to do

Jimmy C, congrats, you've done a very nice job on your car! Looks very nice, I'll try that on my calipers, although I want them silver or black.
Thanks for the tips on how to paint them.

Jimmy,

I love the mods! Good Job! I only have one question:

he was a stock 1993 300ce sportline champagne exterior with 90k miles when i bought him.
I thought all cars are female and all trucks are male.

You know... like all cats are female and all dogs are male.

Regards,

Don
