Drive Shaft Center Bearing

I have a slight but noticeable vibration that occurs above 45 mph. Chrisdpham mentioned in another post that this can be caused by the intermediate bearing. Does anyone have any more info? Both flex discs looked fine to me when I checked them a month ago. I'm wondering if this bearing can be ignored, or how much it costs to have an indy do it.

89 300TE, and 68 280sel
I haven't changed one of these, I have replaced many flex discs on personal rigs and others... and the trick with those is that they may look fine, but you have to try to move them around and do a close inspection to look for any hairline cracks. I had a front disk on my 400E that looked fine but I had a funny vibration and noise that finally led me to replace it if it fixed the problem or not, and it did. When I threw the old disk on the ground it sounded like a muddled tambourine even though it looked fine.

I recently did a bunch of work to my TE replacing all the brake calipers and rotors and in doing so I repacked my front bearings with grease and replaced the rear bearings(which was a bit of work). I had a mild vibration at 70mph and then it started to get worse. When I had the rear up for the brake job I could feel some play in the rear left wheel so I got some new bearings for both sides and had them pressed out and new ones pressed in. In looking at the old bearing, it was shot.

Vibrations are a tough one to track down.

good luck

Yes, and everything else attached to it. I traded it in. Great car, but I can't afford it.
