New owner, no acceleration....

I just purchased a 1986 300e which is a bit rough round the edges and I am now going through its teething problems...
Jut replaced the fuel pump relay due to it being the wrong one in there.. Spark leads and plugs to bosh ones (copper core sparks) ... This seemed to make her run like a dream for maybe a few minutes.. I now have a problem with an intermitent acceleration problem! I accelerate and she chokes and looses power.. This seems to happen at all speeds then it goes away for a bit then comes back againl..I have been using 93 octane and I chucked some injector cleaner in there today! Any sugestions please?

New air filter really helped with that little problem! Accelerator on them is still pretty unresponsive until flored! Took the resistor out I still dont see much differece! Raised the kick down button a bit as well so I dont have to force the accelerator to the floor for it to kick down!

check all the vacuum hoses - my car had the vac lead to the coil hanging down for a while when i got it - didn't help. also the hose from the top of the rockers is probably gonna fall apart the first time you take off the aircleaner - which you probably should do so you can check the other vacuum fittings underneath it - also a physical clean and check of the venturi is probably a good idea. If everything is working and the car is well tuned I find they go pretty well but they are not powerfully responsive from lowdown - more of a winder-upper. But it shouldn't miss or cough - thats bad tuning or something not doing it's job. Whenever I get a new (2nd hand) car i replace fuel, oil, air and trans filters, change oil, trans and brake fluid, put in a new set of plugs, check the distributor and plug leads - usually while I'm doing all that I spot one or two other things that need attention as well.

I had a similar problem with my 88 260E. Sometimes the car would stall when I would get ready to accelerate and would have trouble accelerating other times. I replaced my dist. cap and rotor and my spark plugs and it hasn't done it for about a year now.
