I am now one of you guys, need advice/parts!

Hey all,

My car buying quest has come to an end. I now own a wonderful 1993 300e, Black on Black (with the sportier seats, you know, no vertical stitching) with 157,000. The headgasket has 200 miles on it, with no biodegradable wiring... full tune-up and new brakes.... god I love mechanics that sell cars. Hell, even the A/C works!

I'll snap pics soon, when I can wash it. But with a 14 year old car, its not perfect. First I need some light gray body cladding, the small piece near the passenger rear wheel well... anyone got one?

Also, my drivers door look is kinda weird... It won't lock, but it will unlock... whats up with that? It like jams... like it doesn't want to move, and occasionally the lock won't unlock it either.. advice?

Other than that, this car feels super soild, and I am in love with it. I was going 85 when I thought I was doing 65!

Contratulations! I know these cars all feel so solid. My '87 is in poor shape compared to yours, but it's still got that solid "tank" feel if nothing else...

I would try junkyards for the small cladding piece. There are also Mercedes recycling specialists online--Potomac German Auto is one.

Yeah, im not too worried about the cladding.. I need to get my detailer out here so I can get rid of these scratches!

Something that is funny, my sunroof just started sticking... like I hold the button and it will move a couple inches then stop. I hope to god that I won't have to replace the motor or something like that, hopefully a good cleaning and some grease will do the trick.

Sunroof maint. is a must, and is often overlooked. Once you clean and lube the tracks you should see an improvement. Also make sure the drains are clear.

for the longest time i didnt realize that my sunroof was screwy. Sometimes it jams with 1 inch to go (closing) and i freak out becase its about to rain. But the thing that really bugs me is when i put up just the back part (when you press the switch and not push it forward or backward). Only the right side pops up! wth?

Yeah there was a little dirt and some other crap in the guide rails... 10 minutes later, good as new!
