problem accelerating on highway -94 e320
last week had my fuel pump relay replaced at the dealer due to startup problems. today i was was driving home from south jersey (3hr ride) when i began having acceleration problems on the higway. every 15 minutes or so while cruising along around 65mph the car begins to decelerate to about 40mph. the accelerator goes "numb" until the mph drops, then responds again. about 15 minutes of cruising at 65'ish again it does this again. there is no check engine light. what do you guys think?
car is a '94 e320, bought new, original owner, have around 200,000 miles

Sounds like it starts running on fewer cylinders for a period of time. A few years ago I had a problem where the car was running on only 2 cylinders and it was really, really sluggish. It is the only thing I can think of. No idea why your check engine indicator is not lighting up though.
