Thats a good point. In the US, they are really not that strict on some stuff like that.

lots of cars
has anyone ever had a 230E? well, I had one here in the u.s ( grey market )and it would cost him a fortune to even convert it to a 300e because of everything that's missing!
a 230E is basically a 190E with a w124 body, to convert it to a 500e would be crazy with all the new parts that would be needed. Even if he was only using the chassis the 500e has 1000 different parts (from what i heard) it's not a regular w124.

Also is that 190e with a 302 v8???

I think I need to come in here and give you some answers...

Frome the begining I never thaought that this project should become anything like this... If I have know I might have used an other one... but I did whant the 5 liter V8... and I whant the 500E fenders... and this car did not have any rust... so I didn´t have to fixa that..

The suspension will be a coustom made 4-link and I´m going to probably use the Moton 4-way suspension, so it´s going to be coilovers... I´m also using a 6-speed sequentiell transmission... I´m not leaving anything on touch... this is going to be a proper racecar...

Then I´m going to use the AP Racing watercold 8-piston caliper whith 378mm disc in the front and the AP Racing watercold 6-piston caliper whith 356mm disc in the rear... so I will have no problem breaking... car will only weigh 2200 pounds.

You well se that it is a MB... but everything is replaced or workt on... the enging going to be moved further back in the car for bether weighdistribution and so on, and so on...

Can you shed more light on the engine, will you be using the stock crank, what about the overboring and sleeving ? (some M119 engines are sleeved, but others are not, which one was yours) the sleeves will need to be etched depending on what pistons you will be using (what pistons will you be using, and what size? mahle?)

Sorry I'm asking so many questions regarding the engine, I'm in a position now to fix my ongoing 4200cc M119 engine (crank + bearing damage) or replace it with a 5000cc engine from a W140, or even a M120 (glup!) if that is possible.

Sorry for hijacking your thread, I with you the best with your project.
