Stunned !

Hi Rouven 036 , should have been Raven 036 according to the 040 colour.

So nice to see yet another one from the homeland of the 500E performing
this kind of elaborate work , and not* overdoing it * the 124 036 does not
need the nowadays so common * Blingenginering * to make it stand out,
just a few subtle additions or changes and you have a car that even in
comparison to modern supersaloons does not have to excuse itself for being
around.

Some more power, braking and modern rubber tha'ts all , together with sound
tight chassis you does'nt have to go further to cope and feel ancient just
because your running a piece of history and thouse updates is'nt of any harm
to the originallity of the car aslong as it can be put back to its delivery shape.

I really love what you have done, 040 is one of my favourite colours and this
is the most delicate use of a rim/wheel from a decade after the car was
produced maybe the colourcoded spokes help , very nice , they really do
belong to the car .

About the brake upgrade; I really feel the need for that job to my 500
as I reacently did change the brakediscs allaround on my C43T the very
same brakes you find on the W210 E55 btw, compare the 500 discs to
the newer Brembos upfront, true they ar four pot but only 300mm dia same
as the rear ATE C43/E55 ones, look a bit tiny esp. with 19" rims.

Question is the caliper mounting bracket center to center holes same as
the 500 carrier c/c ? And is the altering of the position in depth
by shims or adapters the only work needed ?

Did you overbore the block to use o.d original Mahle / KS pistons ?
Cams did you use AMG or what make? And what work was done to the
heads ? Did you say what year the 036 is? Alot of Q-s Roger

Ps Isn't here always a room for an EVO II perfect couple imo.
You have BRABUS speedom. AMG wheels I have AMG sp. BRABUS wh.

@all thank you for the friendly and hearty receive!
Thanks for posting that - really appreciate it! Now everything makes sense to how you went out making the brakes fit properly. That was everything I WAS gonna do until we found a extra set of CL600 brakes laying around and decided to use that.

On the OEM 360MM rotors... have you thought about using aftermarket rotors? I know for a fact that the stock OEM rotors for those 6-Piston brakes are EXTREMELY heavy (since I sold quite a few sets when I use to work for MB) which is affecting my thoughts about doing this swap...well... kind of. How come you didn't decide to do the rear brake swap as well? Thanks again!

Post more pictures of your awesome E500 when you get a chance!

uhh a lot of questions but not a problem i want try to answer them
-both cars are blue black metallic (stock) 189 is the code
-yes the engineblock is overbored, and now i use ks oversize pistons.
-the caliper mounting bracket fits hole to hole, but you need this spacers i described above between the caliper and the knuckle.
-you have also make this modifications shown on the picture and this hollow in the knuckle (green arrows) that the brake line conector have enough space.
-i modify the intake manifold, inlet, outlet channels, headers, that there are now corners,a little bit bigger (the size of the sealings) and smoothened the surface, polish the valves and drill the seats of the valves new.
-the car is from my 93 the facelift
-i prefer also a amg speedo, because it looks better, but its hard to get.

and now my questions to you:

.are there some aftermarked 360mm rotors available for the clk63? one rotor cost me 600euro plus 19%tax the caliper only 400something.
.will the rear brake system of the slk55,clk63 also fit to the 124 rear achsle? till now i've not checked this.
.is for this car a lsd available?
.are there also some other header available?

more pics will come at the end of september, then i'm at home in germany for two weeks.

Rouven, your cars are perfect! I always loved the EvoII, and seeing it as you have it, it breaks my heart that I will never have a chance to drive one or own one

Love the 500e as well! Very sleek, I hope that one day I can have my 300ce look as clean as your cars!
