Dome light won't come on
Hey guys. I have my dome light set to "door" so the light comes on every time you open the door. Now the lights don't come on and I know the sensors are OK because the puddle light (light under door) sensors work fine. I'm about to pull out the dome light as check to make sure the switch is getting a good connection. Anyone have any advice or experienced the same thing. BTW, the bulb is good.

The internal components of your light assembly may contain a 14 pin IC chip a few pull-up resistors and a small capacitor. The chip/cap make up a timer circuit for the dome. The chip also includes the flasher for the seatbelt warning lamps. Do the red "buckle-up" icons flash on its lower edge when you open the door? The circuit can be metered and power tested on the bench.
Insert a credit card into the right edge (switch side) and while pressing inward to compress two metal tabs, gently pry out. There is a hose and sensor for cabin temp inserted into a small grille. Handle it carefully. Disconnect the connectors and remember placement.
A sunroof switch is not included with replacement units but can move over. The dome selector switch can be metered but is good quality and I doubt has failed. If the puddle lights in the door bottoms are working, your door switches are operating properly. The circuit may be toast.
Dome assemblies are about $100.

My 260E had the same problem and the switch contacts were shot. We had to wiggle it around and it came on and works fine. You may want to either take the switch apart and clean the contacts or replace the switch, i believe however that the switch and light on that car are replaced as one piece. You can find it online for about $100 they are a cinch for replacement.
