1990 300TE 4matic Transmission Venting Problem

I recently did a transmission fluid and filter change. I followed the directions of the w124 bently manual. Filled it with 4 litres with the dextron III (although from Canadian Tire), ran it through the gears, and slowly added 2.5 litres more. Let run and then checked.

But now after getting the car warmed up it is venting ATF, especially when I go to downshift. I have tried draining some fluid to the fill line when warm, but it is still venting ATF.

Anyone ever have this happen to them or have any idea what may be the cause? I'm starting to think its the Canadian Tire ATF.

Thanks!!

Chris

To check the transmission fluid, the manual isn't clear on whether the car should be running or not. It does say to run it for 1-2 minutes and I just assumed to keep it running. But maybe not.
