Thinking about a E soon

hey guys i'm usually on the w203 forum but anyways lately i've been itching and looking for a W124 and possibly a 190E. I really dont know much about them but i love the look of the car and want to buy one to use for the winter. i'm thinking about doing light mods like 16" wheels OEM perhaps? maybe a mint set of w202 C280 wheels? def euro headlights, smoked tails, light tint and maybe a few more performance goodies but i want this to be a fun car! anyways i'm having difficulty and settling down and looking for a specific model. i posted on the 190E forum but no help so far.... is there any common problems to look for besides rust??? with great care i know these engines can run way past 100K. if you guys can help me with any advice it would def be nice. i love my w203 but i think i wanna go ol skool again since i miss my ex w126 91' 560SEL!!! i'm not looking for anything very expensive or anything with a lot of power so i dont plan on gettin a 500E? although its a cool car. maybe 300E??? 260E??? looking for something that get good to decent gas mileage but dont want a diesel. please help me out

how are the w124's and 190E's in the snow??? i will be adding 4 new snow tires if i end up getting the car. when should the timing belt be replaced??? since most of these cars are past 100K i dont want to buy something with high mileage and having to worry about replacing the timing soon b/c its money....

thanx in advance guys!

is a German Tank
get a wagon!

300E's and 190E are two different models, what you're interested in is a w124

Get a 300E (again, get a wagon!), they are pretty reliable...better still if you're handy with a wrench!

EDIT: Do not get a 4matic, not unless it has been kept up to SPEC by MB!

There are other things that you need to worry about in a W124, make sure they are taken care of by the previous owner.

- Main Engine Wiring Harness (disintegrates)
- Throttle body harness (disintegrates)
- Evaporator (failure of A/C)
- Head gasket (you know what this means lol)

Pretty costly, but if you find a low price w124 with this all taken care of, you will be about $8,000 richer in the long run.
