this is nowhere near "the first AMG."

AMG first did a 300SEL 6.3 that raced and won its class at spa.
the first car they made post merger was the C36. work must have astarted on it before the merger as it was announced pretty soon after the news of the merger
the first W124 was the hammer (mid eighties) which featured the M117 motor from the W126 Sclass with proprietary twin- cam. multi valve heads of AMGs own design.

not first in any category.

Actually the first joint venture was the 1992 190e 3.2l, which was built by AMG and offered through select MB dealers in Europe. The C36 was the first joint venture offered in the US.
