4Matic Transfer Case Rebuild?

I have a 1990 300TE 4matic in need of a rebuilt transfer case.

Does anyone know of any alternative places other than getting one from the MB dealership? They quoted me $2,700 CND for the Transfer Case (p#124-280-39-01-88) + $1,000 CND for the core (p#124-280-39-01-70). What is the core anyways?

Thanks!

That $2700 price is the amount they charge you if you trade your old transfer cases. The core charge is only if you take the Cases without turning in an old set for them to rebuild.

Thanks for the offer but I think I would feel better if I install a rebuit transfer case. I am waiting to get a quote back from adsit. Hopefully it will be somewhat more reasonable than the MB quote.
