Timing chain cover leaking...
1989 300te... There are two timing chain covers - upper and lower. One is leaking. So, how do I determine that? The pass. side of the engine is wet. Just below the juction of the upper and lower. Could be the side of the lower or the bottom of the upper. Any ways to determine?

lots of cars
Clean it and look for leaks. Are you wasting like a quart every month or so? I have the upper one that i need to replace and i lose two quarts every 3k miles but it doesn't drip on the floor or anything like that.

It's the gasket between the two covers leaking. Very common problem. Remove the upper cover, replace the gasket, but put a buttload of silicone on it, and then re-install the upper cover. It's about 2 hr job if you can tell a wrench form a screwdriver.
