E420 to 500E Insurance premium delta?
Any current/previous 400E/E420/500E pilots have an idea what the ballpark premium increase would be? Thanks in advance.

When I went from a 1992 190E 2.6 to the 1992 500E....my yearly increase was, and I'm serious, $40. This was in the year 2000. Full crash coverage, 300,000$ liability , glass replacement, etc.
I have been with Amica Mutual since I was 16 and I'm 41 now; not sure if that meant anything. I/we also have 6 cars insured with them.
What are u being qouted?

Thanks for the reply. No quotes yet as I am still lining up all my ducks to see if moving up from the E420 makes any sense. Your info is nothing but good news though. I figured that my current premiums are based on what is pretty much the same car on paper (i.e. W124 sedan, V-8 power, etc.) so there shouldn't be too much of a difference unless there were flagged parts that are super expensive to replace. Hopefully that is not the case.
While I will get a quote to verify, it looks like one less reason not to go for it.
Thanks again.

Could be that these cars are getting close or fully depreciated so they ain't worth much to the insurance companies to insure them (?)..tho at the time for me the 500E was worth 3 times as much as my 190E (on paper at least).
I didn't ask any questions to as why it was only $40 more a year...
Certainly wasn't my stellar driving record that helped me out.

I am only 22 so my premium is pretty hefty
