300 E Sportline- is it worth the buy?

Theres a 1992 300E Sportline we saw last week for sale. The motorwas blown, blue/white exhaust heads, leaking oil (put in oil that day, and it was all over the ground) but everything else was is really good condition with ALL the badges.
from what i could tell No rust and the interior was great.

Asking $3k, prolly could talk him down a lil bit, but not sure.

would it be worth it to buy and put in a new engine?

and if anyones intrested i can get you the information. its in New Orleans, louisiana.

Drop in a Supra TT motor, then yes. MB money for an MB engine that would fit would be silly and slow.

At the current market value, these cars in stock form are virtually disposable. Motor replacement is usually a terminal moment in terms of their value.

But...people still spend $2K-$3K to upgrade to sportline suspensions, so there could still be some value there, but it is not $3K.

How many miles? Everything is great but the motor?

The owner is in for some tough news...but maybe that 300e you have could make a lol donor car. For guys like me, running these cars mostly stock, to drive a Sportline is to love a Sportline.

So it just depends on how bad ya want it eh?

Everything "seemed" in good condition. we only stopped and looked for about 10 minutes.
Although the doors didnt all unlock when we opened the driver side with a key.

Still guna sit on it for a while and think, let h im sit on it a while and see what he does with the price.
we gave him a card.

plus, we just picked up another 300cdt that were changing out body parts on at the moment. so we have 3 300cdt's sitting in front of my dads shop. but her engine and tranny are great.
