The BMW owners also have good website forums, so you will find a whole new world of enthusiasts.

Btw, nice color. I don't think I've ever seen a W124 with that color :/ :O

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The bad news is that even though I still love my car, I am definitely starting to realize that I may have to give up sometime in the not too distant future. To my W124's credit, the thing does keep on going even though it has issues. The good news is that there are other cars out there that could make me happy. I think the BMW 3-Series is definitely one of the cars that could make me happy.
If I do go for the BMW, I am on the fence about getting a slightly used E46 or going for the E90. I am also a bit torn about coupe vs sedan. I actually prefer a sedan, but the chrome "mustache" grille thing on the E90 doesn't float my boat. The E92 coupe went back to the traditional grille without the mustache. When the dealer finally opens, I think I will have to go drive a few of the cars to see what the BMW thing is all about.
There is also still a chance that after trying to find a newer car I will fix my car and keep it rolling for quite a while longer, but please don't tell anyone. My car is amazing in many ways and there is just something neat about driving a well maintained older car. It is just cool and it really is a beauty.

Mercedes IS nice and classy and all but. I'm just done with it, even the new ones. I've driven my parent's friend's new MB's and it's just not fun. I mean, it's a nice cruising car, but I'm still quite young, I want to have fun with a car, haha.
Wish you all luck with your cars. Me in another hand, I just don't have the time to be stranded with this car so much. If I DID have another car and the TIME for it, maybe I would still keep it and just garage the crap out of it. But yea, no. I need a reliable daily driver, I'm 100% dependant on a working car, daily.
how about we go over your likes and dislikes in, say, about, 12 years. perhaps 23.
come back and see us then.
oh, and enjoy your car when its out of warranty and theres no longer any free maintenance.
). And by then, I'll probably have a better job and won't cling to an old car. So I'll probably buy a new car

The idea of plunking down almost $7k and then another $2k in repairs over the next year for a car that I really really like (and like driving) and will probably keep for the next 10 yrs, is a lot more appealing than asking Infiniti (or BMW) to rape me every month for leasing another piece of crap. I'm getting out of an '04 G35x : pretty and fast, but like most things you can describe like that, expensive to keep, and actually kind of cheap. A shame, because I was a die-hard Nissan fan from previous experiences.
I'm toying with going for a $3k early 90s 300E with no recs and 2 or 3 owners, but I need reliability and I am looking for something long term, but shy away from the lack of "provenance".
Just how much more valuable is a one-owner fully documented, gently used late 124, considering I'm looking for longevity, and something to hold its value?
Thanks.
If so, your parents buying you a BMW ALSO bought you a bit of the new BMW no-cost option:
Slight douchebag attitude adjustment.
You used to contribute, enjoy your car, were enthusiastic and now you come back here, slinging ***** and acting as if your car is so great and our "old" cars are inferior.
I would take a W204 ANY DAY OF THE WEEK over an E90/92 because they are nicer looking, drive better and will hold up better than your Bavarian creation. Do I go over to the bimmer forums and say that? No. Why? Cause I have class...
Now what you CAN do is either change your attitude, kid, OR GTFO. Plain and simple, capiche? "
"PS I have owned cars that cost 3 times as much as your entry level sedan and I STILL keep my W124. Why? Because it IS a GREAT car. Yours sucked? Boo hoo, go write a blog.
Happy?

everybody i work with in my dept has a new/ish car. they all have fancy watches, $160 oakley shades, athlete endorsed apparel etc. they buy lunch daily when i bring mine. and i make just as much money as they do and work more hours than most.
i wear costco white t shirts. use gas station sunglasses. buy my shoes at shoe warehouse. etc etc etc
im the only one who doesn't own an new car. mine is 18 years old. the BMW 2002 i drove before i bought this one is 34 years old.
but i also go on actual vacations. not just taking time off work and visiting friends. but actual, hey let me go to ......
i invest my money in my 401K, which appreciated 30% last year. 29% to be precise. i could buy a new car. but would it take me to work any better than my 18 year old car? coz i roll everywhere in my ride. and i dont worry about putting miles on it. devaluing it. crashing it. it being scratched. it gettting stolen.
and yet i get a sense of satisfaction from owning it. i marvel at the effortless ability it still displays. the thoughtful touches. the ingot solidity. im the guy driving in the far right lane in the rain, the one with all the water pooled in it, coz not only will my car drive through it with only a slight pull, but there are no exposed critical electrical items that will get soaked. and this car debuted in 1984!!!!!!!!!!!
and its quieter than my brothers brand new navigator. the one he thought i should match with an envoy. no thanks mate. ill keep my unassuming old car. it puts a smile on my face when i want it to.
if anything happens to it, im upgrading to.................. a W124. probably a 500E. if not then i might get a gelaendewagen. but i dislike trucks.

Zorro, you're my hero now. No doubt!
I don't think a person can get "owned" so perfectly on the internet. Well done!
But I know any day, anywhere, I will alsolutely crush any 3 series with it.
