I did. Just turned out his check bounced (despite being a close friend of my wife's sister - hence the soft spot for taking his post-dated check).
Lesson learned. It was a hassle I didn't need or want.
I got the car back with no damage and only 875 additional miles on it, which he paid me gov't mileage rate for. He also have me cash for the duplicate title and other inconveniences (renewing the tag, re-establish insurance).
I'm glad the new owner is looking forward to enjoying the car. We met yesterday and after his examination and a long test drive, made me an offer that I accepted. He gave me a cash deposit and we'll be meeting this week or next to finalize the transaction.

I would have so been all over that before xmas. If it doesn't go through let me know I might be able to move some money around for it. I am currently carless
