Where do I go to get my front end aligned!

Well, I bought new tires about 2K ago and the inner edges have worn to the bands, its a bad alignment. I paid for new tires asnd the guy told me that he cant do the alignment because His equipment cannot do it and that I will have to take it to the dealership. NO WAY?!

I'm looking for a cheap alternative such as Town Fair Tire or any other tire franchise that any of you had luck with, I live in Connecticut. There has got to be a place that will do this, my 300E isnt a freaking Tucker prototype!!!

Thanks guys

Time is running thin for today so I'm going to give my local Town Fair Tire a try, hopefully I wont wait just for the "Our equipment cannot align your car, the dealership can do it" line again . I'll let you know.

I got my car aligned at Tire Pros, they're a nationwide chain. They charged me 60 bucks. Thing is, the car still went to the side :S wtf?

Yeah the chains seem to "knock-out" the jobs thats why I'm a bit skeptical to where I go also due to the previous incident. I would quite honestly like to get my camber and tie-rod alignment done at once as I replaced the tie-rods and steering linkage, front control arm bushings, and ball joints all at once a while back and still have not gotten an alignment. I'm dreading that a dealer might be my only option, either that or a respectable foreign mech...JP motors comes into mind...hmmm

Has any one ever have a sucsessful alignment done and where?

The dealership is probably the only place that will get a Mercedes aligned correctly, unless you can find an indy shop that does a LOT of Mercedes alignments. Ask a shop if they use a spreader bar when adjusting the toe. If not, walk away, no matter how much they tell you it's not needed. The MB specs require the spreader bar installed while adjusting toe. The dealer techs will also know how to center the steering box, too... something else other shops won't have a clue about.

The dealer is usually ~$100 for an alignment... far cheaper than replacing tires every 2kmi. And, if it pulls afterwards, you can take it back... they'll work on it until it's right.

alignment

I just had my 1990 300E aligned at Sears. It took about 45 minutes and they did a great job. Cost me 99 bucks plus tax. Good Luck

You'll know for sure if it was a great job after checking the tire wear in 10,000 miles. For $99, the dealer would be a far better choice, unless you live hours away from the nearest dealership...
