Yearly cost of maintenance 91 300E

Greetings, I am wondering what other owners allocate for maintenance on their 300E's and any opinions on what its costs to keep a premium example in fine condition over the course of many years?

I am waiting to receive the full service history of the car I just bought (91 300E 63K) but have been told by service rep at the dealership that the car was perfectly maintained since new. Any estimates on what the grand total might be over 17 years?? This could be fun!

Hard to say.. and congratulations btw..,

I do all repairs on my cars myself, but they still haven´t been giving me much headache at all.
( My white 1988 300E 4matic has covered 220k miles without problems )

These are solid cars and you´d have to be unlucky if you regret your decision.. especially with that few miles on the clock.

Cheers,

i plan on no more than $2000 per year. per car. i have three.

they cost me less than the cost of the budget for one for all three.
ive spent $350 on my car the last year. the year before i spent about the same. probably less.

there was a year when i spent $3000 though. ever since then its been gravy.

but then again, i dont keep my car pristine like some of the members here. it needs engine mounts right now. taillights. and based on my drive from santa barbara to nite, i also need euros. the tranny is shifting hard. the interior fan is beginning to make a constant clicking sound if i leave it on one setting too long. but its a tool. a tool to take me where i need to go.

but its a tool i love.

This has been discussed before, and the general consensus is $1500-$2000 per year. I would guess around 30% more in Hawaii to adjust for cost of living, but maybe less because of the lack of extreme temps. Maybe a lot less. But then the salt air could cause problems, too. Roll the dice!

I've owned 2 different 124s and haven't spent more than $500 per year. However, my current one is going to screw up that average since the a/c needs major repair

Without jumping all over me, I think some of you spend way too much to maintain your cars that aren't worth a whole lot. Ya 124s are great, priceless and all...but for me, I just won't fix certain things if they went out. Maybe my perspective is a little different since I'm a student.

^ You make an excellent point. These are older cars, and trying to keep everything pristine is not really practical. I personally just hate to have anything broken or non-functional.
