hey guys..back again...

i gave up on 300e's and ce's and somehow dad managed to get hit at the back of his car, write it off, and now the oportunity has come up to get the above mentioned E220.

car has round 135000km on the clock, 2.2l 4 cyl, price...6500AUS.

i had a look on our car sale websites, (carsales, carpoint) and their value varies from 8000 up to 17000, km's vary from 130k to 250k.

can you please let me know what to look for in the car, appart from the obvious things...has it got ne known issues that could cause such a price diff.

Nothing in particular I know about.

If you know 124's you should know what to look for, common to all.

The 220 engine is not bad, similar to the 230 which I had, easy to fix and just the usual areas to look out for, heat gasket etc.

used car expert did not throw up anything that you would expect to check over on any car.

Can't really comment on the price, that's about £500? I'm looking for a 320 estate and prices here range from £1500 - £4500 similar age and similar mileage. If it is near go and look at it.

and also...i was readin on this forum and on AUS mb forum, there is or was one with 2 airbags (special edition) and normal i suppose...wats the difference..other than airbags...cause i noticed that people say the 2 airbags one is better...?

 

Hey, 2 airbags protects your passenger more, so I'd say thats one of the best things you could hope for. I wish I could retro the later model's airbags into my 300ce to be honest.

Thats Really Cheap....theres gotta be something wrong with it......I payed $7500 For My 260E and it had almost double the K's what that has, And Mine was Cheap When i got it

Most 1993 Models And Up no matter how many K's Are Usually above $10,000 Short Answer If theres Nothing Wrong with it, Its a Bargain

i checked the car, it looks neat, inside, outside quite a few scrathes...

only problem...tacho is not working...and the speedo flickers like crazy when the car takes off...up to 40kmh...(dunno bout the mph)...

is that normal...

 

I say, dont risk it.

 

Once the speedo's been out it will never sit back perfectly with the car, if your going to pay that price For a Broken one to fix it you might as well buy One that is working for the price

i managed to get in touch with the guys that the car has been serviced...

last service was on 12/07/07 and they done belts and fluid changes...it had 127000 on the clock...now its got 135000...i think the kms are genuine...none the less ill take the car to that mechanic to have a thorough look at the car...

i trust the mechanic...he comes highly recomended from my mates parents, they have their w124 300e, 280sl and 500sl serviced there...and they dont wanna go newhere else...

ill keep ya posted...in meantime thats the car...

hey guys

havent had time to come on here...but just to inform you we have ended up getting the car..

i love it...dad loves it...now we argue who gets to drive it...i wanna swap him 2003 mitcubishi magna for 95 merc, and he still dont want it lol...

nehows, ill post some pics on when i get around to it, kinda busy at the moment, i just wonted to let you know, thank you for your imputs and advices...

also there are some issues that i would like to adress...however all in due time
